Deputized

This weekend I was deputized.  We were eager to get out of the house on Sunday so daddy checked the newspaper and found that  Mercer Island was holding an arts and crafts fair.  Mommy and Daddy hadn't been over in that area for quite a while so they decided to take me over there and show me what it is all about.  As we were walking around the booths, we decided it was time to take a break so we sat on a small grassy slope under some shade trees.  As mommy was walking up the slope her foot slipped out of her flip flop and her shoe broke.  We were right behind the police safety booth so we went over there to see if they had a safety pin to hold her shoe together until we were finished walking around.  They looked all over to booth and in some of the first aid kits that they had, but no safety pin.  Of course, when the two women police officers saw me they just melted.  They gave me a sticker badge and told me they are recruiting because they need more women officers on the force.  This police officer was kind enough to to pose with me and daddy in a picture.  (oh, and we ended up stopping at the mall on the way home so mommy could get some new flip flops.  Her new ones are black with pink straps.  Pink is my favorite color... or at least until my hair grows out and people can tell that I am a girl).

The Mercer Island craft fair was the second one that we had been to this weekend.  Every Saturday through the summer Edmonds holds a farmers market where they close off one of the streets downtown and people set up booths to sell their wares.  There is everything from fruits and veggies to jewelry to musicians.  It is small, but it's fun to go and see what's new.   Mommy and daddy bought a neat metal coat rack to hang up in the entry of our house.  The artist makes all kinds of metal garden elements.  His company is called Chirping Gardens.  Now all mommy has to do is hang it up.  Wonder when she will get to that.
